Gregory

Another leader who just needs to go. We’re introduced to Gregory in season 6 as the leader of the Hilltop Colony, but unlike The Governor, Gregory is indecisive and relies on others to solve problems for him. He’s annoying, simply put, and only thinks about himself and his own safety. He puts his people at risk with his inability to make decisions, and he really just can’t be trusted.

In the season 9 premiere, Maggie replaces Gregory as the leader of Hilltop, which doesn’t go over well with him, unsurprisingly. After attempting to get Maggie killed and then trying to kill her himself, Gregory is hanged for his crimes.

I think I speak for most fans when I say Gregory is terrible. Though he’s not as evil as some of the other antagonists in The Walking Dead, his death is still overdue.

VERDICT: Leave dead

Sophia - The Walking Dead

Sophia

The daughter of Carol and Ed, we get to meet Sophia early on in The Walking Dead as a young girl who forms a close bond with Carl. Though she might not be as big of a character as some of the others on this list, her disappearance the eventual outcome are so memorable. And devastating.

We don’t get to know Sophia that well, as she’s pretty quiet, but her innocence in the apocalyptic world is a breath of fresh air, and needless to say she’s someone the adults want to keep safe. That, unfortunately, doesn’t happen, however, when she goes missing after running away from walkers in season 2. This results in a lengthy search to find her, and the uncertainty of her fate becomes an important subplot for the show.

Sophia is finally found in the midseason finale of season 2, but it’s bad news. The group discovers Sophia in Hershel’s barn when Shane goes to kill all of the walkers locked in there, and sadly, the young girl emerges as one of the undead creatures. Rick is forced to shoot her in the head in a quick response as she starts walking towards them.

It’s never fun to see a show kill off a child, and Sophia’s fate is still such an upsetting moment.
