Sony has released over a dozen Marvel movies, but which is the best and which is the worst?

It’s undeniable that Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in comic history. The hero, created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, has been the face of Marvel for decades and earned his spot on the Mount Rushmore of comic book icons, his name often mentioned in the same conversation as ones like Batman and Superman.

Luckily for Sony Pictures, they managed to get their hands on him and the other characters from his stories when Marvel sold off the rights in 1999 due to financial trouble. Despite being bought by the company for only $7 Million, the Spider-Man movies and movies about Spider-Man adjacent characters that they’ve released since then have earned them over $9 billion at the box office.

A deal was later struck between Sony and Marvel Studios in 2015 to share the character, which allowed him to exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe while Sony still maintains primary control over him. Although the critical reception to most of their recent projects hasn’t been great, Sony seems committed to continuing the SSU, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, with upcoming projects like Kraven The Hunter, Beyond the Spider-Verse, and Madame Web.

Since the early 2000s, when they first dropped the original Spider-Man, Sony has released a total of 13 films about the character and some of his villains. Here they are ranked from worst to best.
