When does Blue Beetle come out on Max?

Blue Beetle is the most recent DC movie to release in theaters but when can audiences expect it to be released on streaming service Max?

The era of the DC Extended Universe ended with The Flash and now the era of the DC Universe has begun with Blue Beetle. While the latter itself is not technically part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU relaunch chapter, the title character reportedly will be.

That is a good thing, because Blue Beetle received incredibly positive reviews from those who saw it, with praise directed at Xolo Maridueña’s leading performance, the fact that it’s a family-friendly and fun superhero movie, and the welcome Latin representation in such a major comic book film.

The DC Universe movie is still currently in movie theaters, but it’s destined to be a popular addition to WarnerMedia streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max) whenever it arrives. That said, when can audiences expect it to premiere on the streamer?

Blue Beetle Max release date predictions

Blue Beetle is currently playing in movie theaters. The film has been underperforming due to all of the uncertainty going on with the future of DC movies but it’s been holding its own with audiences being extremely positive towards it and encouraging others to get out and see it. Taking that into account, it will likely be sometime before it is released on Max.

That being said, it shouldn’t be too long of a wait. If we look to previous DC movie The Flash, its huge underperformance saw the movie receive an early digital release date just 30 days after its theatrical debut. Its Max debut then followed just over a month later, with the Ezra Miller-led film arriving on August 25 2023 – 70 days after its cinematic release.

As pointed out by The Direct, other recent DC movies have landed on Max between 50 and 70 days after their theatrical debut. Taking that into account, Blue Beetle will likely premiere between mid and late October.

Of course, that’s just a prediction and it’s always best to wait for official confirmation from Warner Bros. but based on the release patterns of previous DCEU movies, a Halloween arrival for Blue Beetle seems possible.
