8. Jay Garrick

If there is one character throughout the show’s run that should have been a series regular at some point in time, it’s Jay Garrick. The classic veteran DC speedster was the most prominent recurring character to appear on The Flash and fans couldn’t help but beam with joy every single time that he did.

From his first reveal as the Man in the Iron Mask, to the fact that he looks like Henry Allen, Jay has been such an important figure in the show, and that’s not even taking into account how important the character is to The Flash Family in the comics. Since his introduction at the end of season 2, Jay has been a father figure to Barry Allen and a mentor in all things Speed Force. And their relationship has been one of the most formative in Barry’s journey to becoming Central City’s hero.

John Wesley Shipp was the perfect choice to play the character given his most famous role as The Flash in the 1990s TV series and he was nothing short of excellent in it. Jay was a breath of fresh air on the show and we wish we had seen more of him during those nine seasons.
