The Flash: Every character ranked from worst to best
3. Reverse-Flash
When Eobard Thawne walks into a room, it’s often filled with an eerie hush. It’s so quiet, in fact, that you can hear him vibrating. That’s a testament to both how fast the Reverse-Flash moves and the awe that he commands.
There is no greater villain in The Flash than Eobard Thawne. Heck, there is no greater villain in the Arrowverse than Eobard Thawne. The Reverse-Flash made it his mission to destroy the life of Barry Allen and was even willing to befriend him to make it happen. And he did befriend him – so well that Barry never saw the betrayal coming.
In the years after Thawne’s season 1 demise, he has returned on many occasions (both with his own face and Harrison Wells’ depending on the occasion). It’s not surprising, because this man is The Flash’s archenemy on every level, and it’s completely believable that he would not stop until he defeated him once and for all.
The final few seasons completely mishandled his story, killing him off in one of the most underwhelming showdowns in The Flash‘s run, but Tom Cavanagh and Matt Letscher have both been nothing short of thrilling in the role. And both have earned a place among the best on-screen villains we have ever seen.
