8. Batwoman (Ryan Wilder)

When Ryan Wilder took over the mantle of Batwoman, she had quite the mountain to climb. Not only had Kate Kane done a fantastic job of bringing back Gotham’s Bat-shaped savior, the original Scarlet Knight was embroiled in a sisterly feud with the city’s new menace, Alice. And yet that didn’t stop Ryan from stepping up and using her newfound power as Batwoman to become a hero in her own right.

Choosing not to exact vengeance and instead use her skillset for good, Ryan introduced viewers to a new Batwoman and showed us all what powerful really looked like. And in the end, she became every bit the hero that Kate Kane was and forged a new path for both herself and the Batwoman character.

Taking over as lead of a show is not an easy job, but Javicia Leslie did it with complete ease, allowing fans to fall in love with a new protagonist that was even more engaging than her predecessor. After season 3, it’s clear that Ryan’s story is just getting started as the show finally took time to explore her character, and we can’t wait to see Leslie continue to go from strength to strength on this amazing journey.

One of the Arrowverse’s original creations, Ryan quickly found her way into all of our hearts. And, if anything, this just proved that DC Comics should find a way to bring her Batwoman to the comic books too!
