23 and 24. Hawkman and Hawkgirl

Hawkman and Hawkgirl are two of the most iconic DC Comics characters of all time, but their Arrowverse iterations left a lot to be desired. That’s really quite ironic, because Legends of Tomorrow‘s very existence hinges on them, as the Legends unite to take down Vandal Savage (who can only stay alive if he kills the Hawks every time they are reincarnated).

Kendra Saunders first appeared on The Flash as a love interest for Cisco Ramon, so the twist that she was actually Hawkgirl and that The Flash and Green Arrow had to protect her from Savage was a successful one. Unfortunately, the Hawks’ journey throughout Legends‘ first season just didn’t capitalize on it.

Kendra was stuck in a love triangle between Carter and Ray Palmer, while Carter himself just didn’t have much to offer to the Legends aside from clashing with others on the team. As characters they were fine, but as iconic DC superheroes, they fell short of matching their comic book counterparts.

In my opinion, Legends‘ first season remains one of the most underrated in all of the Arrowverse, but the Hawks were definitely among its weaker aspects. So even though we missed their personalities on the show in subsequent seasons, their departure in the season 1 finale was probably the right decision.
