DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Every character ranked from worst to best
4. Ray Palmer / The Atom
Ray Palmer is another Arrow character who truly got the chance to shine whenever he made his way on over to Legends of Tomorrow. Audiences weren’t particularly fussed on the Arrowverse’s more technological version of the Atom suit, but Brandon Routh’s enthusiastic performance made it really easy to like Ray – and we did, we really did.
Ray had a lot of ups and downs during his time on the Waverider but he attacked all of them with a smile. He was a friend for anyone who needed him, forming surprising friendships with Mick Rory and Martin Stein, while also becoming very close friends with Nate Heywood in what became a fan-favorite bromance. He found love on the Waverider, too, falling deeply in love with Nora Darhk – the woman he would eventually marry in a very touching ceremony.
No pun intended but Ray is literally a ray of sunshine. He made everyone around him a happier person and cared deeply for his friends. Whenever he was written out of the show in season 5, the light on Legends dimmed a little. Fans were not happy with the decision, especially as he was an original member of the team, an iconic DC character, and Routh actually wanted to stay on the show. But we could all take solace from the fact that he and Nora got their happy ending.
