2. Ava Sharpe

When Director Ava Sharpe of the Time Bureau made her presence felt on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow season 3, the chemistry between her and Waverider captain Sara Lance was palpable. They were two opposites destined to do battle for their opposing sides, but also two equals who matched each other well. We all saw where this was going (and rooted for it to get there quicker!).

Ava was a strong presence on the show right out of the gate, thanks in no small part to Jes Macallan’s formidable performance. But even though the story made you want to root against anyone who opposed the Legends, there was something about Ava that made you want to root for her. And when she and Sara finally got together, fans all around the world cheered for their romance.

But Ava’s strength in character also applies to her life outside of “Avalance”. After her discovery that she was one of countless “Ava” clones from 2213, she had to reconcile her existence and the purpose she was designed for with her actual human emotions, overcoming feelings of fear and dread that she wasn’t a real person with real feelings. And she did all of that in the end, understanding that this was all just part of who she was but also accepting that it didn’t define her. She was her own, unique, wonderful person, and she was capable of love.

Ava was a badass who eventually realized that she was every bit an outcast and misfit as the rest of the Legends, and once she accepted that she went on to live her best life. And honestly, we love her for that!
