1. Sara Lance / White Canary

When we all heard that Arrow‘s Caity Lotz would be returning as a “mystery character” in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, there was a lot of speculation about who that could be. There was also a lot of excitement, because she was such a great addition to Arrow as Sara Lance / The Canary, fans weren’t happy that she was killed off. Thus, when it was confirmed that she would be returning as Sara (who would be resurrected on Arrow by her sister Laurel), fans were ecstatic.

With that reaction, it was no surprise that Sara was the most popular character on the show throughout its first season, so when the resurrected assassin graduated to captain of the Waverider in season 2, it was very well-received. The show was a journey for Sara because she was used to following assignments, carrying out orders and executing plans (or, well, people). On Legends, she had to learn to lead people. And what a natural leader she turned out to be.

When she wasn’t saving the timeline, Sara was also busy trying to save her sister, reuniting with Arrowverse buddies to stop major world-ending events, and finding love. The latter she found in Ava Sharpe, and the pair’s romance quickly went on to become one of the most beloved aspects of the show.

“Take a chance on Sara Lance” we are told in the show’s final season. And that’s pretty darn poetic, because we’re so glad that Legends of Tomorrow did just that.
