DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Every character ranked from worst to best
17. Jefferson “Jax” Jackson
Professor Stein needed a new partner for the Firestorm Matrix within him after Ronnie Raymond’s demise, and he found that partner in Jefferson “Jax” Jackson. On The Flash, the two completely different personalities had to learn to work with each other and get over their differences so that they could become the superhero that the timestream needed – and the early seasons of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow reaped the rewards of that growth.
Jax and “Grey” ended up becoming one of the most endearing partnerships on the show and it was lovely that the otherwise independent Jax began to look up to Stein as a father figure. The only downside of that partnership was that we lost both of them at the same time, because when Professor Stein died, Jax left the Waverider to live a normal life.
We’re happy he found happiness, but we wish he got more of a chance to shine on the show.
16. Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz
Another of the more recent additions to Legends, Esperanza “Spooner” Cruz ended up becoming the team’s secret weapon in their battle against aliens in season 6. A badass lone warrior, she is rather antagonistic towards the Legends early on (and you would be too if they kidnapped you!) but like so many before her, she grew to love them as her family.
Spooner may not have been around as long as some of the other Legends aboard the Waverider (one of the many unforgivable casualties of the show’s premature cancellation), but she made one heck of an impression viewers. Her friendship with Astra was surprisingly endearing, especially since neither one of them would consider themselves “besties” material, and she made history as TV’s first asexual superhero after her moving conversation with Zari Tarazi.
We wish we got to spend more time with Spooner because, even now, it still feels like there was so much untapped potential there.
