Rick and Morty season 7’s episode titles have been revealed and they’re as wacky as you’d expect.

Rick and Morty’s episode titles are always wild. They’re usually parodies of movies, TV shows, or something from pop culture. One thing that’s consistent is they’ll always hint at what’s going on in the episode. For example, season 3, episode 1 is titled “The Rickshank Rickdemption”. This is where Rick escaped space prison. It makes sense that the episode would be named after the classic movie, The Shawshank Redemption.

The episode titles for season 7 have been released. It’s likely that the theme of references and hints to the episode will continue. As always, they’re based on famous projects, phrases, and more. Here are the names of ten episodes and what they could be about.

Rick and Morty season 7 episode titles

Before we break down what the 10 season 7 episode titles could mean, here’s a quick rundown of the Rick and Morty season 7 episode titles:

  • “How Poopy Got His Poop Back”
  • “The Jerrick Trap”
  • “Air Force Wong”
  • “That’s Amorte”
  • “Unmortricken”
  • “Rickfending Your Mort”
  • “Wet Kuat Amortican Summer”
  • “Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie”
  • “Mort: Ragnarick”
  • “Fear No Mort”

“How Poopy Got His Poop Back”

One of the most recognizable reoccurring characters in Rick and Morty is Mr. Poopybutthole. Ever since he debuted in season 2, episode 4 “Total Rickall”, he’s been hurt in some way. Among the tragedies was losing his wife and kids and his job. Like the movie it’s based on (How Stella Got Her Groove Back) Mr. Poopybutthole will probably get his life together. The hint the episode title trailer says it could happen in something in Central or South America.

“The Jerrick Trap”

The Jerrick Trap is definitely named after one of The Parent Trap movies. Each of the projects involved a twin. In this case, it could be a twin. It’s more likely a character from an alternate reality. Judging by the title, it will focus on Rick or Jerry, or both. However, maybe this is the episode where fans see what the evil Rick has been up to.

“Air Force Wong”

Dr. Wong (voiced by Susan Sarandon) has been the Smith family’s therapist since season 3 (the “Pickle Rick” episode). In season 6, Rick went to her for help (“Analyze Piss”). Shockingly, her assistance helped him grow. It appears that she’ll be the focus of this episode.

The title is a play on Air Force One. This means Dr. Wong will meet the president (who’s voiced by Keith David). Hopefully, President Curtis will say, “Get off my plane!”

“That’s Amorte”

Rick and Morty episode titles aren’t consistently named after movies or films. It seems like this will be the case here. “That’s Amorte” could be based on the Dean Martin song “That’s Amore”. If so, that could mean Morty falls in love. It could be someone new, Jessica and Morty finally get together, or Planetina could return. Look for references to Cher’s Moonstruck.

“Unmortricken”

This writer had to ask his wife what this meant. She immediately said it was about Armeggedon. Considering how often Rick and Morty save the world, it makes sense. A giant asteroid heading for Earth isn’t out of the question. However, it won’t be that simple. The Asteroid will probably be sentient or launched from another planet. Maybe Supernova is returning. She owes Rick for getting her teammates killed (season 3, “Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender”).

“Rickfending Your Mort”

Defending Your Life is a romantic comedy. The IMDb description says, “In an afterlife way-station resembling a major city, the lives of the recently deceased are examined in a court-like setting.” Easy to guess that someone will die and be put on trial. The obvious guess would be Rick. Beth is another option. She’s not exactly the nicest person and she’s a lot like her father.

The trailer says, “Save your receipts” and shows Blips and Chitz. Are Rick and Morty going back into the Rory game?

“Wet Kuat Amortican Summer”

This was obviously named after Wet Hot American Summer. The trailer shows the basement where Rick keeps all of Morty’s erased memories (season 3, “Morty’s Mind Blowers”). It also says that Morty and Summer hang out. The memory that Morty relives could be from when Summer was his camp counselor. Whatever happened was incredibly traumatic. With these two, who knows what it could be?

“Rise of the Numbericons: The Movie”

This one isn’t based on a movie. This time it’s a comic book Rise of the Decepticons. And, as the trailer said, it’s a movie. This particular project will be longer. While a lot of information hasn’t been released, one thing for certain. Ice T/Water T’s enemies will be involved. Whether Rick and Morty (and maybe Space Beth) go to Earth or they go to Alphabetrium remains to be seen. Nevertheless, there will be a ton of references and jokes about Michael Bay’s Transformers.

“Mort: Ragnarick”

“Heaven is real, broh. I saw it, broh. I swear.” What heaven did the characters see? Since this obvious reference to Thor: Ragnarok, they probably saw Valhalla or Asgard. Also, there’s no way Rick, Summer, or Beth see Heaven and are freaked out. Jerry’s name may not be in the title, but he’s a choice. Maybe this writer is just hoping it’s Jerry. His reaction to meeting Thor, Loki, or Odin would be hilarious.

“Fear No Mort”

Fear No Evil is a 1981 movie where a “High school student turns out to be the personification of Lucifer.” Rick and Morty could have been looking for Evil Rick and the trail leads them to something more sinister. They could end up in Hell.

This wouldn’t be the first time Rick has been to Hell. However, who’s running the underworld? Is it the Evil Rick that they’ve been chasing, or is Evil Morty in charge? Both of them are there and something else is going on. Or it isn’t actually Hell. Evil Rick could put Rick in a dream state where he’s forced to face his fears.

Regardless of what happens, the season finale will end with a cliffhanger. Rick and Morty seasons love doing that.
