8. Cole Sprouse

If there was ever an actor capable of bringing the broodier and troubled elements of the Terry McGinnis personality to life, it might just be Cole Sprouse. The former child star enjoyed a huge career resurgence over the past six years (following a hiatus to focus on academics) and that’s thanks in no small part to his role as Jughead Jones in The CW’s Riverdale.

The broody best friend of protagonist Archie Andrews, Jughead became the heart and soul of the show over its seven-season run, using his skills as a writer to become one of the town’s resident detectives (the other being his longtime love Betty Cooper), getting to the bottom of every murder spree, whodunit and high school mystery the show has thrown at its teenagers.

Sprouse has done a superb job making Jughead so much more than his often broody exterior would have you believe, bringing to life his troubles, concerns and strong emotions – all of which makes him a fantastic character. He also got a chance to convey a lot of the character’s quirkier elements in the 1950s-set final season.

The young actor is no stranger to the big screen having starred in romantic drama Five Feet Apart and HBO Max movie Moonshot, and he would have no problem personifying Terry McGinnis in a potential Batman Beyond film.
