Robert Wuhl

Robert Wuhl approached the role of Alexander Knox with such energy and enthusiasm that it has become one of the most beloved roles of his long career. The character, a reporter working in Gotham City that teams up with Vicki Vale to investigate Bruce Wayne, Knox plays a supporting role in Batman but that didn’t stop him from becoming a fan-favorite character.

Wuhl’s larger-than-life personality lent itself nicely to the role, and that’s no surprise given that he was one of the up-and-coming actors of the early ’80s. His success continued after Batman, as he appeared in more high-profile movies such as BlazeMistress, Blue Chips, and Cobb. However, he would find his greatest success on television, creating, writing and starring in all seven seasons of HBO’s Arliss, which ran from 1996 to 2002.

Since then, he has been more selective with his roles, often appearing in episodes of TV shows or cameoing as versions of himself in multiple projects. He also recently returned to the role of Alexander Knox in a cameo appearance in an episode of Supergirl as part of the Arrowverse’s Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover (in which he responded to the red skies of the Crisis surrounding the Bat-Signal with “I hope you’re watching big guy”).
