The Mighty Nein: Everything we know about the upcoming series
Get a glimpse into Critical Role’s new upcoming series, The Mighty Nein, and everything we know so far about the upcoming original series!
Following the immense success of The Legend of Vox Machina, Critical Role has recently revealed its next adventure in the animation realm – an adaptation of their second campaign, The Mighty Nein.
This much-anticipated series will revolve around the chaotic world of Wildemount, marked by political strife, shifting alliances, and, most importantly, an unlikely group of… morally ambiguous adventurers.
About The Mighty Nein
Separated from Tal’Dorei, where Vox Machina takes place, by the Shearing Channel, Wildemount is ruled primarily by the Dwendalian Empire. This unpredictable region is more than just a backdrop – it’s a complex character in its own right. Full of gritty realism and political upheavals, it’s the perfect setting for a tale with such high stakes and internal conflicts.
That band of morally questionable adventurers? The Mighty Nein challenges the stereotypes of your classic fantasy archetypes. This crew is a melting pot of races: from Fjord, the half-orc warlock, to Caduceus, a Firbolg cleric who is usually the group’s moral compass, they show how diversity can be an advantage in any unsuspecting situation. They not only defy societal norms but also the law, engaging in questionable actions. The Mighty Nein are characters you can’t help but root for and love – a huge testament to Critical Role’s masterful storytelling and roleplaying.
Who’s the cast for The Mighty Nein?
Though nothing has been officially confirmed yet, we can expect that the original Critical Role cast of the Mighty Nein campaign, also the same voice actors who breathed life into the characters of Vox Machina, will reprise their D&D characters with almost 99% certainty. Among the voice actors expected to appear in the series are:
- Matt Mercer
- Ashley Johnson
- Travis Willingham
- Laura Bailey
- Liam O’Brien
- Taliesin Jaffe
- Marisha Ray
- Sam Riegel
Does The Mighty Nein have a release date?
The release date of The Mighty Nein is still a subject of speculation. Taking place 20 years after Vox Machina’s escapades, the release could depend on the pacing and ending of the currently ongoing The Legend of Vox Machina series.
Critical Role’s epic journey from a homebrew Dungeons & Dragons game to an animated series has been nothing short of inspiring and a true pleasure to witness. As a fellow D&D nerd, it brings a smile to my face every time someone who isn’t part of the D&D community talks about how much they’ve enjoyed Vox Machina‘s two seasons.
So, ready your dice and prepare your character sheets. As we find out more details about the upcoming series, we’ll have to make adjustments to our proficiencies and masteries.
