Dancing with the Stars actually managed to get a Marvel star to compete
By Cody Schultz
After 32 seasons, ABC has finally gotten a Marvel star to join the Dancing with the Stars cast with the addition of a Multiverse of Madness standout!
Across its 30+ seasons, Dancing with the Stars has featured some of the biggest names in entertainment and Disney has loved to use the show to plug corporate synergy. Over the course of the show’s run, we’ve seen countless Disney Channel and ABC stars appear on the show; however, there is one major brand that has long been underrepresented on the show: Marvel.
While there have been 31 seasons of the ABC show, over the course of its run the show has never cast a Marvel star as part of the Dancing with the Stars cast. Sure, there have been some Marvel stars who appeared on the show before joining the MCU such as Zendaya who competed in the show’s sixteenth season, but we’ve never seen a Marvel star cast on the show after breaking big in the MCU — that is until now!
Dancing with the Stars 2023 cast: Who is Xochitl Gomez?
Among the names confirmed to compete as part of the Dancing with the Stars season 32 cast is actress Xochitl Gomez, who Marvel fans will recognize from her role in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness!
Gomez made her MCU debut in the 2022 sequel to Doctor Strange, starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen in the role of America Chavez. America played a key role in the film thanks to her unique ability to open star-shaped portals in reality which allow her and her allies to travel through the multiverse.
After her role in Multiverse of Madness, America is primed to become a part of the Young Avengers team Marvel is working to establish and is expected to play a significant role in the Multiverse Saga.
While we don’t yet know when we’ll get to see America back in the MCU, fans can enjoy watching Xochitl Gomez compete this fall on Dancing with the Stars as she makes Marvel history in the process!
