Dune part 2 is not coming out in 2023

There are still some great movies coming in 2023, but sadly Dune part 2 is not going to be one of them as the movie isn’t coming in November as planned.

In a move that has surprised literally no one but disappointed so many, the much-awaited sequel to the epic movie Dune was pushed back its release date from November 3, 2023, to March 15, 2024. Blame it on the ongoing studios as the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) refuses to pay professionals what they truly deserve for their hard work that has shaken Hollywood to its core.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and based on Frank Herbert’s classic novel, Dune had us all thirsty for a second installment shortly after its release in 2021. It snagged six Oscars and raked in an impressive $402 million worldwide – the sequel has its high hopes. But don’t despair. The movie’s delay might give it a shot at premiering in different and more exotic settings like the Berlin Film Festival or SXSW in the late winter or early spring. Plus, we’ll still get to see Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya on IMAX when the film does get released.

With names like Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, and Austin Butler, the cast has a jaw-dropping 258 million followers across various platforms. Their social media power is such a big deal that it even led to the rescheduling of other projects like Zendaya’s Challengers.

While Dune: Part Two is taking a time-out, Warner Bros. is keeping the rest of its December releases right where they are. Despite rumors and the continuing strike, Wonka, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and The Color Purple are still on a trajectory to hit screens as planned.

While the SAG-AFTRA strike has definitely thrown a wrench into the gears of Hollywood, they have not ground to a complete halt – at least not yet. There’s still plenty to look forward to, even as we adjust our calendars and our expectations.
