12 DC villains who are better than most DC heroes
4. Amanda Waller
Amanda Waller and DC fans have the ultimate love-to-hate relationship. The thing is, Amanda’s backstory is relatable to so many. Waller’s backstory is as gritty as they come.
In her early life, she was a widow living in the tough Chicago projects, trying to keep her family together. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when her eldest son and daughter fell victim to the unforgiving streets. Her husband, wanting vengeance for their daughter’s death, met a tragic end. Determined to escape this cycle of violence and poverty, Waller did everything she could to provide a better future for her remaining three children.
She worked tirelessly to put them through college while pursuing an education in political science. As she entered the world of politics, her path eventually led her to uncover classified files about Task Force X. The rest is history.
Waller has no soul when it comes to “saving” the world. She’s a master manipulator who pulls strings from behind the scenes. You never really know when or if she’s involved.
Casting Viola Davis in the role added another level of coolness. James Gunn and Peter Safran were smart to keep her on, she is an absolute beast. I’m still holding on to hope that we get a Waller mini-series about her life.
