Let me get this off my chest: Black Adam, the movie, was solid. Overall, it accomplished what The Rock wanted – to make Black Adam look like an absolute beast. When you talk about DC Comics villains, Black Adam’s name is at the top. The dude is so cool; he said, “Hold the cape.”

So, who’s Black Adam? Well, he’s like the anti-Shazam but gets his powers from the Egyptian gods. He’s got powers that can give Superman a run for his money: super strength, speed, stamina, and more. Some argue he can best Superman thanks to the fact that he has control over magic.

But it’s not just about the powers; it’s the backstory. Black Adam’s origin is an epic one. He started as a slave in ancient Egypt and gained superpowers from the wizard Shazam, kind of. Blaze, Shazam’s daughter, made a deal with the Egyptian god Set. When Adam utters the word “Shazam,” instead of becoming the representative of the wizard’s divine patrons, he transforms into the avatar of the Egyptian gods Shu, Heru, Amon, Zehuti, Aton, and Mehe.

Some may call him an anti-hero. After all, there’s an argument to be made that he has a sense of justice, even if it’s a bit twisted.
