5. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

  • Release Year: 2019
  • Director: David Leitch
  • Cast: Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Cliff Curtis, and Helen Mirren

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is the ninth movie of the Fast and Furious franchise. It’s also the first spinoff of the franchise so far, and it’s safe to say it won’t be the only one. Hobbs & Shaw grossed more than $750 million at the box office in 2019.

The film stars Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw. Following the events of The Fate of the Furious, Hobbs and Shaw must team up to stop Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), a terrorist with plans to unleash a deadly virus.

As a movie, Hobbs & Shaw is one of the tightest stories of the Fast and Furious franchise. Obviously, I think the viewers missed some of the big characters from the franchise that we love so much, but overall, it’s a great. As a spinoff, the creative team was able to strip out some of the fluff that we’ve come to expect in some Fast and Furious movies. It’s high-octane action with great performances.

If you haven’t seen Hobbs & Shaw, you should check out the movies as soon as you can!
