After a successful first season, the second and final installment promises an even more entertaining list of episodes. Premiering on September 21, 2022, the show immediately lured Star Wars fans with its rich storytelling and immersive universe. The first season’s finale dropped on November 23, 2022, and picked up eight Emmy Award nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series. The first season focused on Cassian Andor’s transformation from a disillusioned fighter to a committed member of the Rebel Alliance in 12 episodes.

We were all hoping to see season 2 by August 2024, but… those plans are now uncertain, as is everything in the industry right now. Ongoing strikes in Hollywood, affecting both writers and actors, are very likely to delay Andor‘s return, and we’re not sure for how long.
How many episodes will Andor season 2 be?
The second and final season of Andor will also consist of 12 episodes, just as the first season. It’s not yet clear how long the episodes will be but we expect they’ll hover between 40 minutes to an hour.
Has Andor season 2 started filming?
The show began filming in London in November 2022 and was supposed to wrap up in August 2023. Though the writers’ strike did not affect the show since the scripts were already completed, the SAG-AFTRA strike has kept filming from continuing as of September 2023. However, Tony Gilroy, the creator of Andor, has expressed his support for the ongoing strikes, emphasizing their importance for preserving the industry.

Diego Luna will return as Cassian Andor, accompanied by several members from the first season are all expected to return for Andor season 2. Stellan Skarsgard, Genevieve O’Reilly, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Adria Arjona, and Faye Marsay will also come back and reprise their roles. Interestingly enough, Andy Serkis will also be back as Kino Loy – which is super exciting.
What can we expect from Andor season 2?
According to creator Tony Gilroy, season 2 will zero in on the growth of the Rebel Alliance and lead directly into the events of Rogue One. According to Tony Gilroy, the second and final season will span over four years and showcase Cassian’s journey to becoming a leader within the Alliance.
Diego Luna has also spoken about Cassian’s commitment to the Rebel cause, explaining that while Cassian wants to be part of the Rebellion, he’s still processing what that really involves.
Kyle Soller, who plays Syril Karn, told Esquire that the second season will be “bigger and better,” featuring “more people, more planets, more worlds.” Adria Arjona, who portrays Bix Caleen, has teased significant character growth and potential thematic explorations of anger and revenge.
