Every Attack on Titan season ranked from worst to best

2. Attack on Titan Season 1
Simply put, nothing (and we mean nothing) is better than the original! The first season of Attack on Titan put the anime on the map. So much so that fans couldn’t help but think about it during the entire four years that the show went on hiatus. Of course, this time didn’t matter much because rewatching the highs and lows of season 1 kept us going for four years.
Season 1 is a classic and ages extremely well with time. Veterans and newcomers to this anime even know that every episode of this season is good at what it’s intentionally trying to do. For example, if the episode wanted to be comical, it certainly had us laughing our heads off. And if the episode wanted to be heartbreaking, it had us grabbing our tissues. Even more so, if the episode aimed to show the desperation of our protagonist to fight and give it all he has, we were all ready to stand right behind him, lending our support.
This season did a great job at setting the stage for everything else to come, which includes doing a great job at foreshadowing that humanity will eventually shift from fighting against Titans to fighting against one another. It even sets the tone of how it will all end if you pay really close attention.
With a show this intricate, season 1 could’ve been a disaster. But this season did a stellar job and will be looked at favorably until the end of time.
Rating: 9.2 out of 10
What Could’ve Made Season 1 Better: There really are no notes for season 1, as it was just a great watch from start to finish. This season was so close to being our top pick, but if it weren’t for its successor being one of the greatest anime seasons of all time, we definitely would’ve given season 1 the number 1 spot.
