Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom movie.

Remember that awesome time Jason Momoa saved Atlantis? Well, he’s returning to do it all over again, this time with more bling, action, and possibly a touch of horror.

Jason Momoa will be back as Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, in the sequel we’ve all been wishin’ and fishin’ for. James Wan, the mastermind who brought the first Aquaman flick to life, is back to direct Lost Kingdom, and is most of the original cast.

With all the excitement around the sequel due to the recently released trailer, let’s look at everything we know about it so far.

What’s the plot of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom?

Black Manta is still not over his daddy issues and wants another chance to try and ruin Aquaman’s life. But this time, he’s got the help of the Black Trident, a mythical weapon that could very well be based on the dead king Atlan’s Scepter – which could mean some bad news. To save the day, Aquaman has to join forces with Orm, his half-brother and the very guy he dethroned in the first movie. Talk about awkward family reunions.

Is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom a horror movie?

According to James Wan, The Lost Kingdom is inspired by the 1960s cult horror flick Planet of the Vampires. Paired with the fact the Black Trident – the very trident that sunk Atlantis – and Altan – the dude who sunk Atlantis – are being introduced, we could be in for a spooky treat. However, the movie is not a horror movie and has been billed as a buddy comedy type movie.

Who’s the cast for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom?

Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Patrick Wilson will be back. Yahya Abdul-Matteen will be back to reprise his role as David Kane/Black Manta. Nicole Kidman returns as Atlanna, and Dolph Lundgren will be back as King Nereus.

While most of the same cast is back, we do have some fresh faces joining the fun. Jani Zhao is going to play a character named Stingray – no word on whether she’ll be Aquaman’s new sidekick or not. Indya Moore will be playing Karshon, a shark-turned-bad guy thanks to a radioactive mishap. And Vincent Regan will be playing Atlan, the dead king who made Atlantis take a nosedive into the ocean.

Will Batman appear in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom?

Jason Momoa had previously made some noise on Instagram, hinting that Ben Affleck would be making an appearance as the world’s most relatable Batman in The Lost Kingdom. Well… it literally hurts my heart to say that’s not happening anymore. Turns out, it was just a tease, and Batman will indeed be sitting this one out. Thanks, Momoa.
