9. The Flash season 4: finale We Are The Flash – AKA the WORST season finale
While our affection for The Flash series runs deep, it’s difficult to designate any of its season finales as “the worst.” However, it’s hard to deny that, in our opinion (and according to critical reviews too), the season 4 finale titled “We Are The Flash,” which aired on May 22, 2018, falls into the less-favorable category in our ranking. Here are our reasons for this choice:
1. Anticlimactic ending: After a season filled with build-up and suspense, we eagerly anticipated a grand showdown between the Flash (Barry Allen) and the season’s main antagonist, Clifford DeVoe, also known as “The Thinker.” However, the final confrontation between the hero and villain did not live up to the expectations that had been built up throughout the season. Frankly, this left us disappointed and unsatisfied.
2. Lack of tension: Another issue with the finale was the lack of tension and suspense. This lack of tension made the episode feel less impactful compared to some of the other finales in The Flash universe.
3. Resolution of storylines: Throughout The Flash series, there are various character arcs and plot threads that drive the story forward and typically have a satisfying conclusion, however, in the season 4 finale we felt that the resolution of the season 4 storylines was rushed or underdeveloped, leaving plenty of loose ends and unanswered questions.
So with this in mind, we had no other option than to mark it as the WORST season finale in The Flash season finale history.
