WWE: 10 bad, goofy, and weirdly good wrestling gimmicks
By Mark Lynch
Which wrestlers had the worst gimmicks in WCW and WWE history? Why were some of them so awful that they were actually good ideas?
The WWE has been at the top of the wrestling world for decades. They’ve found a way to maintain their supremacy by constantly reinventing themselves. Sometimes changes are hits. John Cena has gone from almost being fired to a certified WWE and Hollywood star. Hulk Hogan went from being a baby face to a heel and eventually the villain that people love. And, of course, there’s Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Everyone has seen how that story is going. However, not every story and gimmick is a success.
Over time, the WWF, and WWE (and WCW) have produced some duds. The Wall, Kizarni Johnny Polo (who was actually Raven), and dozens more have come and gone. There are others throughout the years that are so bad that this writer is embarrassed that he remembers them. Since he has to remember them, so do you.
Coming up, this writer will discuss some of the WWE and WCW’s worst gimmicks. Keep in mind, some of these were so bad they’re good. Others are uncomfortably horrid. Let’s begin and see how many of these you remember or didn’t know about.
Honorable mention: The Shockmaster
