When Ultimate Invasion concludes, the return of Ultimate Spider-Man is right around the corner.

The Marvel Comics mini-series Ultimate Invasion is almost over. Reed Richards of the Ultimate Universe (a.k.a. the Maker) found a way to change his former reality, going back in time and stopping major moments from happening. The first of them appeared to be preventing Peter Parker from getting powers.

Rather than getting bit, Maker captured the spider in a vial. This prevented Peter from becoming Spider-Man. If you’re a Marvel Comics fan, you know every reality needs a spider-being. According to a recent tweet, the Ultimate Universe is getting its Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man in Jan. 2024:

"“Jonathan Hickman’s Ultimate Invasion limited series spawns an entire new Ultimate Universe, complete with a new ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ by Hickman and Marco.”- Marvel Entertainment"

Brian Michael Bendis’ run of Ultimate Spider-Man is among the most iconic comic book series of all time. It showed a world where Peter Parker became Spider-Man in the early 2000s. This meant new problems for Peter and reenvisioned supporting cast and villains. Unfortunately, while that series was exemplary, the rest of the universe was not.

Marvel Comics reinventing the universe is genius. The Ultimate Universe has a lot of potential. Having the amazing Jonathan Hickman (House of X/Powers of X, Fantastic Four) with art by Marco Checchetto (Daredevil) makes this a perfect way to reintroduce one of the best Peter Parkers of all time.

Marvel Comics has been rolling out news about comics coming out in 2024. Among them have been the All-New X-Men, Vengeance of Moon Knight, and The Rise of the Powers of X. The latter has more news coming during the 2023 New York Comic-Con Marvel: Next Big Thing Panel. This won’t be the last thing that Marvel announces ahead of their panel. Stay tuned to Bam Smack to find out what’s next for Marvel Comics during the New York Comic-Con and beyond.
