Moon Knight is making a comeback in unexpected move for Marvel
By Mark Lynch
Marvel Comics will kill Moon Knight in December, but he will return in January as something more.
Jed MacKay’s Moon Knight has been perfect since it started. He’s become a different hero who’s become heavily focused on protecting his community. Over the last year, one of Marc Spector’s biggest villains (Black Spectre) has been making his life Hell. So much so that Marvel Comics announced that Moon Knight will die in December of this year. However, this isn’t the end for the Fist of Khonshu. The Lunar Legionnaire will return one month after he’s killed.
Marc Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley have all died in Marvel Comics. Coming back from the dead is nothing new to him. He’s actually said this. Marc may also be one of the few people who have died more than Jean Grey. The biggest mystery will be how he’ll come back.
During Jed Mac Kay’s run, Khonshu informed Marc and Yehya Badr (Hunter’s Moon) that the next time they die, there’s no resurrection for them. If Khonshu didn’t bring him back, who did? More importantly, what’s the next step for Marc Spector as a hero?
"“When the dust settles, a new avatar of Khonshu’s wrath will awaken! Complete with a new look and an unquenchable thirst for battle, this mysterious new Moon Knight emerges to take Marc’s place in VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT—a deadlier Lunar Legionnaire for the dark times ahead!”- Marvel.com"
This writer believes that whatever Jed MacKay does will be amazing. Over 25 issues of intense, violent, and entertaining comic books are proof enough. More importantly, this series has dove into the lore of the Egyptian Moon God and his avatars. Something that’s become important to his increasing popularity.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight comic book series should add more to Moon Knight’s growing mythos. Hopefully, that includes Dr. Badr and Reese. They’ve become the most important characters in Marc’s life. For now, a lot hasn’t been reported. Nevertheless, MacKay did say this, “MOON KNIGHT may be dying, but VENGEANCE OF THE MOON KNIGHT rises, clawing itself from the grave!” That’s enough for this writer. What about you?
