2. The Bourne Identity

The Bourne Identity is the first of the Bourne movies, and it was a challenge not to pick this movie as the top Bourne movie of all time. There is just something so good about The Bourne Identity. The mystery around Jason Bourne’s identity and how it’s set up is perfect. It’s the instant hook that pulls viewers in.

In the film, Jason Bourne is found in the Mediterranean Sea with gunshot wounds and no idea who he is. With assassins and the CIA trying to track him down and kill him, Jason tries to stay alive and bring secrets from his past to light. For the most part, though, Jason is just trying to stay alive, but the government organization is right behind him.

The execution of The Bourne Identity is nearly flawless and holds up more than 20 years later.

  • Release Year: 2002
  • Director: Doug Lyman
  • Cast: Matt Damon, Franka Potente, Chris Cooper, Clive Owen, Brian Cox, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje

If you’re keeping track at home, that leaves one more Bourne movie for the No. 1 slot and title of “best Bourne movie of all time.” It’s The Bourne Ultimatum.
