Looks like Jonathan Majors is sticking around in the MCU as Marvel Studios will be bringing him back for Kang’s big part in the second season of Loki.

Jonathan Majors first appeared in the MCU in the first season of Loki, blessing me with my new favorite MCU villain and giving a jaw-dropping performance as He Who Remains – a variant of Kang the Conqueror. He later popped up in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, cementing his role as a major face in the MCU.

However, back in March, just over a month after Quantumania hit theaters, Majors was arrested for assault. We fans were both saddened and slightly skeptical regarding Major’s future as Kang as we wondered if this could mean a recast. Despite the real-world hiccup, Majors’ character will play a significant role in the second season of Loki, and it could very possibly tie in with the fifth Avengers movie, Kang Dynasty.

A peek into Loki season 2

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Loki’s second season’s executive producer, Kevin Wright, spilled some beans on Majors’ character – another Kang variant called Victor Timely. The excitement surrounding Timely’s appearance in Loki can be felt by fans and crew alike. “Victor Timely is somebody that we are very, very excited about,” says Wright.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Majors is set to appear in around half of the episodes in Loki season 2. And he might not just be playing Victor Timely – there’s a big chance we could also see Kang Variants as well. Perhaps Kang the Conqueror is set for a grand return? Or Scarlet Centurion will make an appearance? Or Immortus?

With the joy of having Kang as the main big baddie of the MCU for the foreseeable future, it makes total sense for Majors to have a solid presence in Loki. This is where Kang was introduced, technically, and this is where we should see his character grow to what will be a huge threat as the MCU continues on through Phase Six.

The anticipation is high, and despite the twists and turns, Jonathan Majors seems to be here to stay in the MCU. The WGA strike is ending, the universe is still spinning, and in the world of Marvel, anything is possible. Loki season 2 will return on October 5 on Disney+.
