Let’s review and talk about all 8 episodes of Netflix’s extraordinarily entertaining new series Castlevania: Nocturne, shall we?

Netflix has blessed us with another eight episodes about vampires, witches, and Speakers, but this time it’s a little different.

Set in the heart of the French Revolution in 1792, Nocturne takes place hundreds of years after the events of the original Castlevania series – which takes place in the 1400s in Wallachia, Romania.

The characters are all new. Richter, Maria, Tera, Annette, Edouard, Jacques, Olrox… They’re all excellent new additions to the Castlevania lore.

The story is all new. There’s no Dracula to scare the population – but the vampires are literally everywhere and have infiltrated every part of the government, and so have their Night Creatures. Yeah, those are still around and even creepier than before.

I was looking forward to Nocturne very much. So much so that I immediately dove in and binged all eight episodes in almost a whole sitting, but definitely within 24 hours.

But how does Nocturne compare to the original Castlevania show we all love? The first season isn’t just on par with its predecessor series – it’s so much better.

I’ll be reviewing each episode individually in this article and yes, there will be spoilers – so please avoid until you’ve finished this masterpiece yourself. Or, if you’re all about spoilers, grab some popcorn and read on.
