Will the return of one of Batman’s fiercest enemies mean doom during DC Comics Gotham War?

Ra’s al Ghul’s death during the DC Comics event Shadow War: Alpha No. 1 didn’t surprise DC Comics fans. Thanks to the Lazareth Pit, Ra’s has continuously returned from death. Each time he resumes his plan to save Earth. However, Shadow War made it appear that Ra’s was changing his ways. He was going to admit his crimes and accept whatever penalty came to him. That was the only thing shocking about his death. What isn’t staggering is his apparent resurrection a little over a year after he died.

On his Instagram, Batman artist Jorge Jiminez showed a picture of Ra’s al Ghul stepping out of the Lazareth Pit. The caption read, “Nothing like a good bath to feel relaxed and rejuvenated! Sneak peek #batman #138 Out next week!” It looks like one of Batman’s most persistent villains is returning from the grave. The concern is the convenience of his comeback. Is he going to interfere in Catwoman and Batman’s war? Furthermore, is Vandal Savage connected?

If things weren’t bad enough for Bruce Wayne, Vandal Savage owns Wayne Manor and knows that Bruce is Batman. However, Vandal seems more interested in the Bat Cave than the mansion. Maybe there’s another Lazareth Pit deep within the Bat Cave. While it may seem unlikely, it’s possible. Even the Dark Knight can miss a thing or two.

If there’s a Lazareth Pit underneath Wayne Manor, Ra’s al Ghul resurrection makes sense. He may need Ra’s brilliance to help him in his mission. Savage has already tried to recruit Selina Kyle (Catwoman No. 57). Ra’s could be next. For all we know, the other villains of Gotham City could be conspiring with Vandal as well.

No matter how Ra’ Al Ghul is involved, it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds. Will he agree with what Catwoman’s doing? Does he feel like Batman and say criminals are criminals regardless of the crime? Or does the DC Comics villain have something else more sinister coming up? Stay tuned to Bam Smack Pow to find out what happens.
