The Golden Globes just got a lot more golden by shaking things up in a super exciting way which could lead to Marvel securing nominations more often.

Roll out the red carpet for two sparkly new award categories that are making a grand entrance: one for blockbuster movies and another for stand-up comics. This is epic news, especially for those amazing superhero movies that are known for being fantastic yet never seem to win anything because they’re never taken seriously. Yes, I said that.

I’m not lying. Epic movies like Avengers: Endgame that keep you on the edge of your seat, munching popcorn as fast as you can now have a shot at getting a Golden Globe award of their own. It has been revealed in an exclusive talk with Variety that The Golden Globes will now present an award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement – HUGE for superhero movies, which often smash the box office with their awesomeness but are sometimes left in the shadows at award shows.

Now, films that have raked in a colossal $150 million, with $100 million coming from the friendly confines of the U.S. of A, are in the running for this fantastic new award. And yes, streaming movies with gigantic viewership are also included in this.

The second new award will honor the kings and queens of laughter: the stand-up comics. Now, they will also be recognized for their comedic brilliance in a traditional stand-up format or as breakout comics.

In the words of the Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne, they’re ecstatic to honor the brilliance of comedians alongside those epic motion picture and television performances of the year.

It’s about time those blockbuster movies, filled with heroic deeds and mind-blowing special effects, get the applause they deserve for their hard work and innovative contributions to cinema as a whole. The award show stage is set to honor the blockbuster marvels and the jesters who make us giggle, and I’m here for it.

It’s a win-win for everyone who loves movies and comedy. The Golden Globes just got a hell of a lot more golden.
