Loki season 2 premiered on screens with a shocking debut episode that left fans in awe. But its post-credits scene just alluded to Thor’s arrival on the show.
And we’re back. Marvel Studios’ Loki officially returned to Disney Plus with a long overdue second season that left fans in shock. The Marvel Cinematic Universe show hadn’t streamed a new episode since summer 2021, so to say that the viewers were ready for new time-travel adventures from Loki, Mobius, and the others at the Time Variance Authority would be an understatement.
The comeback finally happened as Loki season 2 kicked off with a premiere that threw us into the new normal for the MCU characters, who now had to accept a very different-looking timeline. But for Loki himself, that meant time-slipping.
As he figured that out, however, some members of the TVA set their sights on tracking down Sylvie. But that right there might have led the show to reference the God of Thunder (who is rumored to appear in this season of Loki).

Loki season 2 episode 1’s post-credits scene explained
The post-credits scene in the Loki season 2 premiere featured our first look at present-day Sylvie after she killed He Who Remains. Using a time door, she found herself in Broxton Oklahoma in the 1980s in a branched timeline and took a few seconds just to appreciate the beautiful environment around her. After that, she did what so many of us do when we’re hungry: She went to McDonalds.
Upon arriving in the building, she asked the staff member behind the counter how it worked, revealing how she had no memory or knowhow of how to order fast food. The young man responded by telling her all about what was available to order, but Sylvie wasn’t paying much attention. Instead, she looked around at the families enjoying their meals and smile with a touch of emotion, adding that she’ll try everything.
This is Sylvie’s moment to just be. She is no longer at the behest of what the TVA dictates and feels that she can finally just be a normal person – a person who can try anything and everything she never had the option of doing before. And that’s beautiful.
She’s in a branched timeline, however, so it’s worth bearing in mind that the TVA are likely going to find her and prune the timeline out of existence. And given that they are already searching for her, that could be sooner than even she is anticipating.
However, her location could also hold a greater purpose than we know. And it could involve Loki’s own brother.
Broxton Oklahoma’s significance to Thor
Broxton, Oklahoma may have looked like a beautiful place for Sylvie to begin life anew, but it also holds great significance to Marvel fans. In the pages of Marvel Comics, the town is associated with the God of Thunder, Thor, who recreates the city of Asgard nearby Broxton shortly after his rebirth.
The town’s existence in Loki season 2 could hold greater importance than we know. Since the show began, fans have been speculating about the possibility of a reunion between Loki and his brother, Thor, and there is a strong possibility it could happen in the second season. In fact, the show’s producer Kevin Wright confirmed that a reunion between the pair has always been “the priority of the story telling” but that Loki has to get to a certain place for that to happen, adding that this has been the “goal of these two seasons”.
The pair’s eventual reunion would undoubtedly be an emotional moment given that Thor watched Loki die at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and that the God of Mischief has grown so much since his Disney Plus journey started, but it’s an exciting prospect to potentially see the two brothers back together again.
So, with the season 2 premiere referencing Broxton, is this is the beginning of that story? Could we see Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder arrive in the near-future? It certainly looks like it’s a strong possibility.
What did you think of the Loki season 2 premiere? Were you shook? Are you ready to see where the new season goes?
