Batman goes too far in DC Comics: Gotham War and it’s up to the rest of the Bat Family to stop him.

When DC Comics’ Gotham War started, it seemed like this would be a straight-forward fight. It was Batman’s morals versus Catwoman’s new way of thinking. Of course, that meant that the rest of the Bat Family would get involved. It was inevitable. However, this writer didn’t foresee the lengths The Dark Knight would go to prove his point.

During Catwoman No. 57, Bruce Wayne and Jason Todd (Red Hood) fought. Like always, Batman won. Instead of turning him in, however, Bruce kidnaps Jason. In Batman No. 138, readers see why. Bruce altered Jason’s mind. Now, whenever Red Hood’s adrenaline is heightened to something “too dangerous”, his fear kicks in. It almost paralyzes him.

Bruce says it’s for Jason’s own good, but this shows that Batman is out of control and it didn’t end there.

Batman vs. the Bat Family

Nightwing went to Batman’s server to remove the Bat Cave’s central system. This meant things like the Batmobile wouldn’t come when he called and he wouldn’t have access to the Bat Cave. When Damian Wayne (Robin) tried to stop him, Tim Drake (Red Robin) intervened. After that, Bruce enters the room and it’s Nightwing versus Batman. In the end, Nightwing wins. He removes Bruce’s access and now he’s more vulnerable than ever.

After losing the battle, Batman leaves Nightwing, Tim, and even Damian for the police. Damian cried because he couldn’t believe his father left him. He was the only person defending Bruce. As Tim Drake removes the handcuffs, he promises to help Bruce.

The alter ego Bruce Wayne created (Zur-En-Arrh) is affecting his decisions. Nightwing and others suspect that Zur-En-Arrh is the only cause of Bruce’s recent decisions. Tim saw this firsthand during Failsafe. However, that may not be the case. He’s definitely influencing the Dark Knight, but not as much as Nightwing thinks. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s the case.
