2. Lana Lang

Lana Lang is one of the most intricate parts of Superman’s early years in Smallville, but Superman and Lois decided to explore the other end of that relationship, showing us how she is still an important part of Clark’s life over two decades later. It also takes that much further by showcasing what an important part of the Smallville community that she is.

Lana is the heart of Smallville; this is something that Superman and Lois makes clear early on. She loves living there, and the people love her. She’s one of the great mother figures of the town that people look up to, carrying on a legacy set out by the one and only Martha Kent. That made her the perfect woman for the job of Mayor.

From dealing with the fallout of her husband’s infidelity to finding out that her first love and longtime best friend is Superman, Lana has had to deal with a lot throughout her time on the show. But she’s figured it out, picked herself up and found her way through it.

She’s not perfect; and that’s what makes her one of the show’s most compelling characters. She’s unapologetically human, and that drives her to be the best woman, mother, and mayor that she can be. She’s always fighting for what’s right, and Emmanuelle Chriqui’s strong performance makes it so easy to root for her.

This is a Lana Lang appreciation slide.
