10. Sarah Cushing

When we first met Sarah Cushing in Superman and Lois season 1, we could see what a rich character she was. She was a troubled character who quickly connected with Jordan Kent. They saw a lot of themselves in each other and they felt like they were the only ones who could understand the other. It made their scenes really powerful and you could see why fans rooted for them as a couple.

Unfortunately, fans have struggled with Sarah since season 2. She kissed someone else when she was with Jordan and yet proceeded to make him feel like he did something wrong. She then told Natalie that he could never understand what it was like to have a troubled life at home even though she was completely unaware of what his real home life was life. And when she finally did apologize for her actions at the end of the season, she has continued to treat those around her with contempt, lashing out at her sister Sophie, her mom Lana, Chrissy, and even Jordan on occasion.

Inde Navarrette plays Sarah so well. She has such a charming screen presence and delivers such an authentic performance. However, the character’s reckless behavior has been so fleeting in season 3, it was hard to know which version of her you were going to get each week. And when the season finally did address that, it felt rushed.

The potential has always been there with Sarah. She has some great scenes with Lana, Kyle, Natalie, and Jordan, and she thrives whenever she’s in group scenes with her fellow teens, but the show’s reliance on putting her at the center of episodic conflict has dragged her far further down this character ranking than she should be.
