Will there be a new episode of The Wheel of Time tonight? Is another season of The Wheel of Time happening? We answer your burning questions!

Last week on The Wheel of Time, Emond’s Field Five (Rand, Egwene, Nynaeve, Perrin, and Mat) were finally reunited leading to one of the most epic episodes of the season!

Episode 8 saw Emond’s Field Five banding together in what was a truly spectacular showdown with Ishamael. In the showdown, Rand infused his heron blade with magic and plunged the blade through Ishamael’s heart in a moment that saw the big bad literally turn to dust. Following the battle, Moiraine fired off a torrent of fire which took the shape of a dragon which then wrapped around the tower where the battle had unfolded as a declaration that Rand was the Dragon Reborn, savior of the world.

Of course, no episode is complete without a little twist or two, so it was only fitting that the episode ended with Lanfear discovering she’s not the only Forsaken Ishamael awoke but that he freed them all… and they’re all preparing to come for Rand!

The episode was an amazing ride from start to finish that left us wanting more, but will we be getting to see what’s next this week?

Is The Wheel of Time new tonight, October 13?

Sadly, the latest season of The Wheel of Time has officially come to an end. If last week’s episode left you wanting more, there’s a good reason for that: The October 6 episode was the show’s season finale. That’s right season 2 has officially come to an end meaning there will be no new episode airing this evening or any new episodes coming for some time.

Unlike most shows which run for 10-13 episodes, The Wheel of Time‘s seasons have been only eight episodes each. This often causes some confusion among fans who are used to shows going at least 10 episodes, but alas the creative team has found its magic number in the eight-episode counts which have allowed for perfectly paced episodes.

While you can’t enjoy a new episode this evening, you can instead return to the beginning as the complete first and second seasons of the show are streaming on Prime Video.

Will there be a The Wheel of Time season 3?

If the cliffhanger in the season 2 finale of The Wheel of Time left you wanting more, you’re in luck! Amazon has already ordered a third season of its hit series before season 2 had even begun, announcing the show’s season 3 renewal way back in 2022.

Amazon began work on The Wheel of Time season 3 in Spring 2023 and the show was able to make some decent progress due to the fact that scripts for the show’s third season had been completed before the WGA strike. While production on the show was forced to halt in July when the actors’ union went on strike, star Daniel Henney told Tech Radar that they had been to film a large portion of season 3 before the SAG-AFTRA strike?:

"“We had the scripts done [before the writers’ strike], so we were one of the lucky shows that had them locked. As of right now, we’re still shooting and we were able to get a good chunk of it done. But we’ll have to see what happens down the road.”"

It’s not yet known when production will resume as the SAG-AFTRA strike is still ongoing as of early October. However, it’s highly likely Amazon will prioritize The Wheel of Time once the strike has ended in hopes of completing the season in as timely a manner as possible.

While we don’t yet know when the new season will arrive, the good news is that another season is coming and hopefully we won’t have to wait as long between seasons!
