Superman: Isabela Merced stuns as Hawkgirl in jaw-dropping image
Isabela Merced takes flight as the fearless Hawkgirl, with power and elegance that’s bound to drop some jaws in stunning new fan art.
With filming set to kick off in January 2024, Superman: Legacy is not just another superhero movie – it’s the dawn of a rebooted DC Universe. James Gunn and DC Studios’ head honcho, Peter Safran, are joining forces to redefine superhero movies for today’s age.
With James Gunn, the same mastermind who made us all dance to Star-Lord’s mixtapes and then violently cry our eyes out in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, both penning the script and sitting in the director’s chair for Superman: Legacy, we’ll be in for a treat.
Superman: Legacy promises a star-studded cast. Nathan Fillion is going green as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi will bring his charm as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan is morphing into Metaporpho. David Corenswet will be rocking the red cape as Superman himself, Rachel Brosnahan is set to play reporter Lois Lane, and Isabela Merced will be playing Hawkgirl.
Isabela Merced becomes Hawkgirl in new fan art
Super cool fan art by the incredibly talented Hasan Kazi shows Isabela Merced as none other than Hawkgirl and her re-imagined wings. This amazing fan art really does give us a Hawkgirl we can see soaring through the sky with a sleek, modern take on the classic Hawkgirl costume.
While we don’t quite yet know what Merced’s Hawkgirl costume will look like, if it’s anything like the amazing concept depicted in Kazi’s fan art we’ll be thrilled! After all, the character deserves an amazing suit as she makes her live-action debut on the big screen in the new DC Universe.
There’s a buzz in the air that James Gunn might be adding more heroes to the roster, but nothing we can confirm. There are whispers about members of The Authority, a sort of Anti-Justice League group, joining the story as well. And, to keep us from spiraling down the pre-show anxiety hole, Gunn has said that while there might be many capes and masks, the spotlight is firmly on Clark Kent’s journey.
With Hollywood in a bit of a pause mode right now thanks to the SAG-AFTRA strike, not a lot of official and concrete details or announcements have been made on Legacy. Once the strike is resolved, we are bound to get more information about the cast and storyline, as well as any theory fuel.
Fingers crossed, Superman: Legacy should start production by early 2024.
