5. James Adomian

To say Harley Quinn is one of the most unique interpretations of the Batman lore would be an understatement. The animated series was originally produced for the DC Universe streaming service before moving to Max (formerly HBO Max). That means it can be as adult and mature as it wants to be. And oh, it is.

Its outlandish nature means that we see plenty of exaggerated portrayals of iconic Batman and DC villains. Perhaps none is quite as joyous as Bane. Voiced by James Adomian, the villain looks pretty much identical to his comic book counterpart, but his voice is a direct parody of Tom Hardy’s portrayal from The Dark Knight Rises.

With his bellowing echoed voice and exaggerated statements, Adomian’s performance as Bane is easily one of the most enjoyable aspects of the show. Bane can be whatever the plot needs him to be, serving as the muscle of the Legion of Doom, a judge, a warden, or just the comic relief. The character is often mocked by those around him, and that makes audiences root for him more often than they would in other adaptations, and Adomian’s portrayal lends itself to this nicely. It’s easy to see why he’s such a fan-favorite.
