Batman: All 10 Bane actors ranked from worst to best
4. Héctor Elizondo
Bane’s voice changed quite a bit during his run in the DC Animated Universe (we’ll get to that shortly), but almost all of the times he appeared he was portrayed by Henry Silva. The one time he wasn’t, however, was in follow-up animated movie Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman.
A spinoff sequel styled in the design of The New Batman Adventures, the film focused on the arrival of Batwoman, and a nefarious scheme involving The Penguin, Rupert Throne, and Bane – who was now voiced by Héctor Elizondo.
Now it goes without saying that Elizondo is an iconic actor with countless roles to his name, including a leading role TV series Chicago Hope and appearances in the likes of Pretty Woman, Beverley Hills Cop II, and The Princess Diaries but you could be forgiven for not realizing that he voiced a character as iconic as Bane, as Mystery of the Batwoman has become something of a hidden relic of the DCAU.
That said, he did a wonderful job in the role, channelling the commanding approach that Silva’s interpretation was renowned for while also adding his own character to it, making Bane sound like that much more of a veteran of villainy (which he was by this point). It makes us wish that he had longer with the role because he did a bang-up job in a very short amount of time.
