These are the 18 most important X-Men Marvel Comics to read from the 2000s.

The X-Men just finished celebrating their 60th anniversary. The world’s most famous mutants have produced classic comic books over the past six decades and not just as a team. Their members have gone on to have solo runs and miniseries that catapulted their careers. Now, Wolverine, Storm, and Jean Grey are household names.

While Dark Phoenix Saga, God Loves, Man Kills, and Days of Future Past are among the best, the last 23 years have given fans new classics. Coming up are X-Men titles from the 2000s that are must-reads and what made them great.

Writer: Grant Morrison

During this series, the X-Men changed their look, became enemies of the Shi’ar Empire, and the School for Gifted Youngsters was now publicly a mutant school. On top of that, the characters started changing. Scott Summers (Cyclops) became more stoic (yes, that’s possible) and Beast’s insecurities caused him to become more distant. The most significant member of the team was Emma Frost. She joined the main roster and shook things up. Among them was having a telepathic affair with a married Scott Summers.

The most important part was the introduction of Charles Xavier’s sister, Cassandra Nova. Thanks to her, Sentinels attacked the mutant island and killed millions of innocent mutants and humans in seconds. Even with the Resurrection Protocols, some mutants still haven’t come back from the dead.
