17. House Of X/Powers Of X

Writer: Jonathan Hickman

This writer has discussed House Of X/Powers Of X whenever the topic of X-Men is brought up. While it may seem like a lot, it has to be. These two comic books ushered in a new era for all of Marvel Comics. Normally, comics surrounding the X-Men only affect mutants. This was different.

"“Here is a new truth: While you slept, the world changed.”-Charles Xavier"

The villains were afraid. Their enemies were more unionized than ever. This is why groups like Orchis started recruiting outside their normal scope. Meanwhile, the heroes were confused. They didn’t know why their friends were alienating themselves from everyone. These are only some of the reasons why House Of X/Powers Of X are two of the best comic books of all time.

16. The Hellfire Galas

Writers: Various writers

The Hellfire Galas served as a season-ending and beginning for the mutants. First, the mutants unveiled their new marvels to the world. For example, the first gala revealed the terraforming of Mars. The miraculous part is it was all done by mutants and their powers. It also ended with The Trial of Magneto.

Beyond the story were the artists creating the gala’s gowns, suits, and more. Each of the outfits was visually stunning and perfectly fit each of the characters’ styles, personalities, and powers. Hopefully, we haven’t read the last Hellfire Gala. However, the Orchis Mutant Massacre may have halted that forever.
