Renfield

"“Dracula’s powers come from eating life, mine come from eating bugs.” -Renfield"

Yes, this is a movie starring Nicolas Cage as Dracula, and that might be enough to turn some viewers off. Yet, this is a fun movie. Nicolas Cage is an incredible Dracula. Beyond him, there’s the talented Nicholas Hoult playing the titular character. Seeing him with super strength and speed was a sight. It was like watching him become Beast again. Except, this character is ripping people apart and eating bugs to gain powers. This is worth watching if you want more action in a Halloween movie.

Beetlejuice

"“I’m the ghost with the most, babe.” -Beetlejuice"

Beetlejuice has been around for over 30 years and the movie remains popular. People still dress up as the titular character for Halloween, everyone knows what happens when you say his name three times, and there’s even a musical. Plus, there’s a sequel coming out starring Jenna Ortega. How many horror classics can say all of that?

At first look, this movie may not seem scary. Beetlejuice as a snake, Delia’s sculptures coming to life, and the shrimp turning into fingers all look outdated, but they fit the movie. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a Tim Burton project. Sure, it’s not The Exorcist or The Conjuring, but it has elements that can be frightening.

This writer grew up watching this flick and it’s never gotten boring. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. If you have, watch it again.
