The Boys: Gen V’s renewal proves it’s better than the comic and show
By Mark Lynch
Gen V has the potential to be better than The Boys
Is it too early to tell if Gen V will be better than The Boys? It is. The Boys is a classic comic book and season 1 of Gen V hasn’t concluded. Nevertheless, there are two things to take into account.
First, The Boys’ comic book is a product of the time. Some of the language and situations are out of date. That’s why certain things were changed when The Boys became a show. A lot of the important things remained but were toned down. Knowing this, the creative team made the necessary changes to keep the heart of The Boys in Gen V while keeping the climate of today’s audience in mind.
Gen V has also taken everything people love about its parent show and used it. Particularly the creative use of powers. It’s become one of the driving points in this universe. Emma and Marie are prime examples. Both have hurt, helped, and pleasured people with their abilities in innovative ways. Season 2 will do this again and probably turn things up a notch.
More ingenious powers will be created that will lead to gallons of blood being spilled. It won’t be surprising when, in the next season there’s a person who uses…a different kind of secretion to defeat their enemies. They’re currently using blood. You can guess what’s next.
