Ms. Marvel’s powers could manifest in the conclusion of her first X-Men mini-series in time to save her best friend, Bruno.

There wasn’t much time for Kamala Khan to celebrate returning from the dead. As soon as she wakes up, Ms. Marvel finds out that she’s the first mutant with Inhuman DNA. Something that should be impossible. Soon after that, the Hellfire Gala was attacked by Orchis. Instead of hiding while Orchis is hunting mutants, Kamala decides to help her fellow mutants. Part of her mission is to be an undercover agent while attending an Orchis-funded program.

While on campus, an Orchis agent named Dr. Nitika Kroll set up a trojan horse in Kamala’s mind. With it, Orchis could use the mutant’s telepathic network to kill the X-Men. Thanks to Kamla’s friend Bruno, her plan failed. What’s worse for Dr. Kroll is she may have accidentally activated Ms. Marvel’s mutant abilities.

At the end of Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant No. 3, Orchis Sentinels found Kamala thanks to her mutant DNA. Because the sentinels don’t care if a human is detected as well, they fire at her. Kamala tells Bruno to get behind her and the issue ends. This writer believes that the final issue of Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant will begin with Kamla showing her Marvel Cinematic Universe abilities.

A lot of mutant powers manifest after moments of emotional stress. For Wolverine, it was seeing his father get shot. Jean Grey’s telepathy first appeared after seeing her best friend die. Kamala’s normal stretching abilities won’t be enough to protect him, but, her shiny, armor-like powers are.

Giving Kamala her mutant powers now was a brilliant strategy by Marvel. By the time Kamala’s mini-series concludes, The Marvels will have premiered in theaters. Promoting Ms. Marvel’s MCU powers in the comics will help with ticket and comic book sales as well as Disney Plus streaming. People will want to know how it happened in the comics and it compares to the movies and her Disney Plus show.

At the very least the news will drive people to read articles. Fans of the comics and the MCU will want to know how it happened. No matter what, get ready for Kamala Khan to become a bigger part of the X-Men going forward. Especially with the fall of Krakoa right around the corner.
