11. Eliza

We barely got to know Eliza Usher before she started her torturous exit from the show. You’d think, with her steely resolve and endless prayers, she’d at least get a smoother send-off, but nope. Eliza was a very devout Christian and did not believe in modern medicine.

She raised Madeleine and Roderick to be just as devout and to reject it all with her, and it catches up with her in the end. Thinking their mother has died as she had no pulse and didn’t seem to be breathing, the twins bury their mother in their backyard.

Well……… she wasn’t exactly dead. Now she’s deathly sick, pissed off, and with a desire to murder someone. The very last thing she does on this Earth is to walk on over to her baby-daddy, boss, and neighbor William Longfellow’s house and strangle him to death, only to flop over beside him and finally die as well.

While I’d usually frown upon such hasty decisions, I must admit – watching her come back from her not-so-final rest to give Longfellow a piece of her undead mind was pure gold and an awesome way to parallel Madeline’s own freaky and undead-ish death with her own mother’s.

Didn’t deserve it.
