10. Dr. Alessandra Ruiz

I didn’t really feel bad about Alessandra’s death, to be honest. I mean, she’s not the evilest of the bunch, but let’s not pretend she’s an angel either. Dr. Ruiz was after one thing: her lab getting funded by the Ushers so she could continue her discoveries and research for her heart mesh project. And sure, she was also dating Victorine, which turned out to be quite the mistake.

The fact she did have a little bit of a conscience right before she died kind of saves her a bit on this ranking. She watched Vic put chimps through horrible conditions and surgeries, watched some of them die, and saw the conditions in which they were kept in her lab. She didn’t care about the chimps. She only cared about her research until it no longer made sense to let the cruelty continue. That’s the only thing that saves her from being lower on the list.

Also, her death was awful. It was dreadful watching her struggle on the floor, trying to make noises to call out for help while Vic was attempting to cover up the commotion. It was absolutely horrifying to see her corpse sitting on a desk with her chest open and the heart mesh on her heart, pumping the bloodless organ.

love how Flanagan did Victorine and Alessandra’s deaths. Truly an ingenious idea to tie in Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart into the essence of this show.

Had it coming, but definitely didn’t deserve to die in such a slow and horrible way.
