Loki season 2’s fourth episode ended on a jaw-dropping note. What does it all mean for the future of the series?
Somehow, someway, we are over halfway through Loki‘s sophomore run. The Marvel Cinematic Universe show returned just last month for its season 2 premiere, and now there are just two weeks until it concludes. And oh boy are we ready for the penultimate episode.
It’s been quite the trek through time for Loki, Mobius, and even Sylvie (reluctantly, so) as they have been attempting to stop the nefarious deeds of the former regime at the Time Variance Authority and protect the branched timelines. It hasn’t exactly worked out in the way that they had hoped, as there have been more than a few obstacles preventing them from doing that.
The fourth episode of the Disney Plus series took that to new heights with what is undoubtedly the most compelling and jaw-dropping outing of the season thus far.

Loki season 2 episode 4 recap
Loki season 2 has been all about fixing the Temporal Loom in the TVA and that was more prevalent than ever in the fourth episode. With Victor Timely now walking the halls of the TVA, the gang were able to make their goal of fixing the Loom a possibility. However, Timely needed to help OB and Casey create a device to do that.
Renslayer descended upon the TVA and had all of General Dox’s agents killed (along with Dox herself) when they refused to join her. The exception was Brad, who assisted her in gaining possession of Timely. However, thanks to OB resetting the system to boot Miss Minutes out of it, Loki and Sylvie were able to use magic in the TVA for the first time, saving Timely and setting their plan in motion once again. Brad also pruned Renslayer.
It was time to fix the Loom and Victor Timely said that he would be the one to do it, volunteering to walk across the radiation-heavy bridge that Mobius once walked along to attach his device to the Loom and save the TVA. However, in what is undoubtedly one the most shocking moments in MCU history, he disintegrated as soon as he walked out onto the bridge. The radiation was just too high because they were too late.
And then the Loom exploded, wiping out everyone.
Is Victor Timely and everyone else dead in Loki season 2?
While all hope might be lost for Loki, Sylvie, Mobius, and the rest of our beloved regulars at the Time Variance Authority, it’s highly likely that they aren’t all dead. The fourth episodes of the MCU Disney Plus shows are renowned for jaw-dropping life-or-death stakes, but let’s not forget that there are two more episodes still left to air.
The destruction of the Loom might have wiped out this version of time, but it’s quite possible that there is more to time than just this version of it. After all, this is the same show that had us believing pruning meant instant death and that nothing existed beyond the end of time. And the first season blew our minds with those revelations in its fifth and sixth episodes, so expect more of that in season 2.
This was very much one of those episodes were everything goes wrong before some world-changing event undoes all of that. Granted, the Loom exploding is a whole other level of what we were expecting, but it will likely introduce some kind of clean slate where the characters will find themselves in a different environment. Perhaps a new branch or timeline.
There is footage in the Loki season 2 trailer that suggests some of the characters are indeed set for a new normal. It also suggests that Loki is set to endure even more time-slipping. But you know what all of that does confirm? The fact that these characters survive the explosion of the Loom.
The future of Victor Timely is a little more interesting. He was ripped apart by the radiation of the Loom before everything was wiped out. Can that death be undone? The same question could be posed for Ravonna Renslayer as she too was pruned before the Loom exploded. If the timeline is reset, will everyone return?
Prepare yourself for the newest of normals in Loki season 2 episode 5. It’s gonna be an adventure!
