All 4 Batman movie sequels ranked from worst to best
By Cody Schultz
1. The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight is not only one of the greatest Batman movie sequels but one of the greatest movies to ever feature the Caped Crusader. The movie brilliantly explores the complex psyche of Bruce Wayne and the moral dilemmas he faces as The Dark Knight, to deliver audiences with a deep character study that elevated the superhero genre making the movie one of the cinema’s brightest moments.
The movie dives deep into themes of chaos and order, which are exemplified through Heath Ledger’s iconic performance as Joker. Ledger’s Joker is a chaotic force of nature who challenges Batman’s principles and tests the very essence of justice in a performance that cemented the Joker as one of the best antagonists ever to grace the screen.
Ledger delivered a stellar performance that earned him a posthumous Academy Award, but don’t get me started down that lane because my heart breaks every time I think about the fact that Ledger didn’t get to witness the impact of his performance. Opposite Christian Bale as Batman, the pair were pure magic.
Speaking of magic, Christopher Nolan again worked his magic behind the camera building upon the foundation he laid in Batman Begins and showing that with the right creative force, a sequel can indeed be even better than its predecessor. The Dark Knight is truly one of the greatest achievements in cinema history with a perfect blend of standout performances and a thought-provoking exploration of heroism.
