House of the Dragon season 2 gets exciting update as HBO confirmed release plan

Cancel your summer plans: it is time to mark our calendars and prepare for a return to Westeros, Targaryen drama, and our beloved dragons as House of the Dragon season 2 is confirmed for 2024.

OH. MY. DRAGONS. House of the Dragon season 2 is gearing up to set our screens aflame in early summer 2024.

Yep! We finally got the update we’ve been waiting for. According to Variety, not only has the projected release date been revealed, but those who attended the press release also got to watch the actual trailer for season 2. Copious amounts of jealousy aside – it is ridiculously exciting that we’ll be sitting down and watching all the fiery and bloody drama we all love so much in just a few months.

Another little drop of goodness from the press release was the mention of yet another Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight – based on the Dunk and Egg stories, which follow the story of Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon V Targaryen. Fellow GRRM fans, we’re getting spoiled. We only hope that the ongoing actors’ strike won’t delay it too much – but if House of the Dragon is any indication, the delay could be avoided as well.

Season 1 of House of the Dragon blessed our screens and gave us more of that brutal Westerosi content we all crave since the ending of Game of Thrones. Lies, backstabbing, ulterior motives, lots of killing – a toast to its phenomenal success, shattering HBO records. But don’t get too comfortable with your favorite characters, don’t forget we’re still watching a GRRM-based show.

If you’ve read Fire and Blood, you’d know there’s so much more juicy Targaryen drama to sink our teeth into. And for those who haven’t, well… consider that your homework. After all, House of the Dragon is only about 250 pages worth of the entire 736-page book.
